Lemonade
My mum used to send me to school with a flask of this frozen: by the time the bell rang for lunch, it would be just past slush puppy and into drinkable but very cold. It's the only drink for summer days and picnics by the river.
Ingredients
- 2 lemons, grated and juiced
- 2 lemons, chopped roughly
- 500ml boiling water
- 4 tbsp sugar or to taste
Put the grated zest and juice of two lemons in a bowl and pour over the boiling water. Leave this mixture to stand until quite cooled, then strain into a liquidiser with the chopped lemons, the sugar and another 500ml of water. Liquidise it well, stand for a short while to settle and then strain into containers.
