SEVEN COURSE ASIAN MENU
This is a showy menu, but it's a great mixture of flavours, influences and styles of cookery. You can, of course, just use a couple of these courses or cut down on the desserts and stuff.
Lovely starter, dips of crispy rice cake into a wickedly moreish peanut sauce. The peanut sauce is Balinese.
Easy, simple, 'Thai style' soup. A nice 'inbetweenie'.
With rice and mango salad
Intensely flavoured little kebabs of beef, inspired by the traditional Indonesian 'Rendang', which renders down a cocount sauce to a thick, sticky covering. The rice salad takes the edge off the heat.
Time to refresh the palate: nothing better than a sorbet for that!
A rich, deeply aromatic lamb and potato curry.
A Balinese speciality, tiny servings of thick, coconut-laced black rice.
French recipe, with a whiff of Asiatic ginger.
